Drawing Casebook | Drawing vegetation: Hand-Drawn Trees in plan
There are three basic ways to draw trees in plan: branch, outline, and texture.
Outline has a solid, opaque appearance. Plant materials and other design elements are usually not shown underneath this kind of symbol. Branch and texture are more realistic. The silhouette effect of these styles allows the viewer to see through the canopy. However, including the objects underneath the canopy can undermine the simplicity and clarity of the symbol.
